Ophthalmologist
Dr. Kacerik Miroslav is an eye surgeon at Life Clinic.
In 1991 he received his medical degree from the University of Milan, and in 1995 he specialized in Ophthalmology at the same university.
For the past 15 years, Dr. Kacerik has served as Director, first at the Ophthalmology Operating Unit of the Treviglio Hospital, then at the Complex Ophthalmology Operating Unit of the Pope John XXIII Hospital in Bergamo, Italy.
Dr. Kacerik performs vitreoretinal, cataract, glaucoma, strabismus and corneal transplant surgery. He also deals with pediatric ophthalmology of surgical relevance.
In particular, during his career he specialized in the management of retinal diseases and has in fact performed more than 4,000 vitreoretinal surgeries as a first operator.
This type of surgery is performed using a minimally invasive method and is necessary in many situations involving the retina such as a detachment, intraocular hemorrhage, infection, and in trauma.
More than 200 cataract surgeries per year round out Dr. Kacerik's professional profile.
The latter is a widespread condition that affects the elderly in particular on a large scale, causing progressive opacification of the lens and consequent decrease in visual acuity.
Dr. Kacerik has more than 100 publications and speeches as a speaker at international and major national ophthalmologic congresses to his credit. He is also a tutor in vitreoretinal surgery training courses at the Pope John XXIII Hospital in Bergamo, Italy.
